Back in Business
I'm back from vacation- my sister is on a plane to San Francisco (until August and December . . . waah!) and the family had a great time trying out Florida roller coasters as well as petting stingrays and watching raptors escaping from their cages.
We went on a total of four: The Manta and the Kraken at Sea World and the Hulk and Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure. Here are the reviews and some Youtube videos for visual reference:
1) The Manta- terrifying, scaring everyone on my family. It's a month old at Sea World, and the vertical position was unnerving. I thought we were out of control, and even my silent little brother screamed. I can't imagine people NOT shouting as they ride. It's certainly revolutionary, though.
2) The Kraken- not as terrifying as the manta, but still giving my stomach lurches with its drops, the Kraken is certainly an unforgettable rollercoaster.
3) The Hulk- This is my second-favorite rollercoaster. Not only are the Islands of Adventure designers brilliant, but thanks to contact lenses I was able to see everything on the ride. No big drops and lots of twists and turns; also, the backstory that they have on during the wait is interesting. The Hulk is actually a tragic hero, at least in this portrayal, and we feel for Bruce Banner.
4) Dueling Dragons- Before I rode this, the Hulk was my favorite. But Dueling Dragons has become my favorite Islands of Adventure roller coaster. It also helps that they're building Harry Potter land around the ride. The castle with the skulls inside were also awesome. Ten stars out of five.
Updates are back on schedule, so check them out!
